“Ruthven "Rudy" Simons stands as a stalwart champion for human rights, dedicating his life to advocacy and activism across myriad causes. His extensive involvement includes serving as a vice president of the Cranbrook Peace Foundation, contributing to the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, and co-founding the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at Wayne State University. Simons' commitment transcends borders, as evidenced by his participation in delegations to conflict-ridden regions such as Iraq, Iran, and Palestine. Recognized for his unwavering dedication, he has been honored with prestigious awards, including the Center Peacemaker Award from Wayne State University and the Founder's Award from the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights.

Simons' activism knows no bounds, spanning decades of tireless advocacy for causes ranging from ending apartheid in South Africa to promoting women's rights and civil liberties. His presence has been felt in countless demonstrations and rallies, where he has lent his voice to movements for peace and social justice.
