Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist. Carnegie led the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century and became one of the richest Americans in history. Carnegie said: “The man who dies thus rich dies disgraced’’ and, eventually, he donated 350 million dollars. He funded the establishment of more than 2,500 public libraries around the globe and endowed organizations dedicated to research in science, education, world peace, and other causes. As a book lover, he was the largest individual investor in public libraries in American.
