Daniel Berrigan
Daniel Joseph Berrigan SJ was an American Jesuit priest, anti-war activist, Christian pacifist, playwright, poet, and author. Berrigan helped shape the US anti-war movement. His active protest against the Vietnam War earned him both scorn and admiration, especially regarding his association with the Catonsville Nine. Moreover, in 1968 he traveled with historian Howard Zinn to North Vietnam to negotiate the release of three captured U.S. pilots. Berrigan was awarded the War Resisters League Peace Award and Thomas Merton Award, to name a few.
