Gene Sharp was an American political scientist. He was the founder of the Albert Einstein Institution, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the study of nonviolent action. He is the author of From Dictatorship to Democracy: A Conceptual Framework for Liberation. His teachings inspired movements such as Ukraine’s Orange Revolution of 2004 to Egypt in the Arab Spring, the Occupy movement against economic inequality that spread out of the US in 2011.
